Look--no hands!!

so before i start i have to confess---i was supposed to cross train yesterday after swim and i just couldn't do it!  no energy to muster and get myself there... ahh now i feel better!

Today was Key Run #2 which is a tempo run.  This tempo run was 1 mile easy then 5 miles tempo pace (30-45 seconds faster than your current 10K pace).  Welllll my current 10K pace is approx 8:45-ish so i ran the 5 miles tempo at about 9:22 min miles (6.4 on tread).  Yeah not a sprint by any means but i didn't hop onto the rails for a "water break" or to "Fix my sneaker" or "Check my headphones" or "Wipe my sweat" like i usually do on the treadmill to catch a quick breath!  Come on--you knooooow you do that too!  right?  I mean cheating yes i know but over time i have convinced myself these breaks aren't hurting my training--well no more!  Hence the title "No hands!"
Today's run was particularly sucky because i went to put my iPod on and low and behold--deadsville!  Ughhh.. I've become so accustomed to running with my iPod that its really hard to do without.  Luckily a good friend of mine was on the treadmill next to me for the full 5 miles.. so i wasn't thinking about how much running 5 miles on a treadmill really sucks!

However, speaking of iPods--i haven't updated my "running" playlist in ages.  Maureen knows--it could probably use some work.  I have the typical 'Eye of the Tiger' and 'Born to Run' on there as well as some country, Rap icons, and 90's dance music.  If anyone has any suggestions of good songs to play do tell...4hrs and 30 mins is gonna be a long time so good songs are going to keep me going!  Also, i have 14 miler coming up this weekend so suggestions welcome!

Now for the Injury List:
1.)  shins felt pretty darn great.  I'm a big fan of the ZENSAH compression sleeves!  i wear them all the time--school, running, watching tv, sometimes even sleeping!
2.)  Elvis--little jerk!  Felt pretty good until about mile 3.5.  I would probably give him a 4 overall on a scale of 1-10 because its just a nagging annoying pain!
3.)  Plantar Faciitis--good until i stopped running.  But hey, better to hurt after than during i suppose!

Up for tomorrow:  Cross training after swimming.  Gonna be a late one and makes me really wish i just dragged my sorry tired butt there yesterday so that tomorrow was my rest day instead!  Doh!
